Launched on 1st July 2013; after 2 showcases and 2 open mic events ; Towers of Babel brought their highly anticipated "Verses" Series to a climax at the Occasions Ballroom located on airport road (February 15 2014) with "Verses Vol. 3: Love Chronicles". The evening began with soothing neo-soul music setting the mood for a soulful night of Poetry, Jazz and Reggae performances themed around a subtitle of "Love Chronicles". Before the event officially started performers even graced the stage; teasingly, of what to expect throughout the showcase, these teased performances were not pieces that were planned for the showcase but definitely served to build the anticipation as guests were arriving. Hosts for the evening were Mr. Li Welch and Ms. Charrish Ferguson who are both a staple at the Towers' events and provided on stage chemistry that entertained between performances, which felt like there were no breaks in entertainment. The opening salvo was a group piece (Dominick Rolle, Zel, Phillippa M and Lady Livi); a cover of Bob Marley & Lauryn Hill's "Turn Your Lights Down Low" along with live acoustic guitar and bongo drum (Fanfan and Li Welch), aptly enough the room went dark and into dimmed lights hinting that these artists were here to truly entertain. Once the show began the audience's eyes never left the stage, and truly it was hard to select the best performance as each artist brought their own flavour of artwork to the stage that touched the audience; forcing them to erupt in laughter, loudly chant "Rewind!" for poets to repeat punchlines, snap their fingers, be enthralled by the voices, and fingers strumming and beating on instruments or had them lost in the emotions flowing from the stage of words that seduced and stretched the imagination. Some of the high points according to audience members were Lady Livi's "The Prayer" and "Sacrifices", Dominick Rolle's "Tall, Rich and Mysterious", Trigga Api's "Just Friends", Mr. OMG's "I like Liking You", Vanessa H's "Twisted Seduction", Hezron's "Gravedigger" and the emsemble performance of "Turn Your Lights Down Low", however without a doubt Verses Vol 3: Love Chronicles was a night of performance art masterfully presented with spoken word poetry, singing, rapping and live instruments running from 8pm until approximately 11pm and left all in attendance craving more.
In order of appearance: Dominick Rolle, Phillippa Maham, Zel, Lady Livi, Hezron, Edwardson Jean, Chrystal "TESS" Charles, Mr. OMG, Melinda Welch, Sam Nagar, Vanessa H, Dwayne Thomas, Trigga Api, Rebecca M, Twis-Flo, Fanfan and Sherlyne Thelusma. Thanks: The WineCellar, SUN TV Love Chronicles
